The lastest photos of our trip … All Bolivia & the first part of Peru

Just another quick update.  We put most of our photos from Bolivia & Peru. From BOLIVIA, you will find the photos from Lake Titicaca and La Paz (La Paz, Coroico, Copacabana & Isla del Sol), Central Highland (Cochabamba & Aiquile), the South Central (Sucre, Tarija & Rosilla) & the Southern Altiplano (Our tour to the Salar of Uyuni). The last photos of our trip … Goodbye Chile & Hello Bolivia

Top tips for visiting the northwest of Argentina

Visiting the northwest of Argentina was one of the highlights of our trip in South America so far. However, I found it a bit daunting when planning our time in this region. There is so much to see and do, where do you start? We knew we wanted to rent a car for sure to give us freedom and flexibility but for how long? Where would we rent the car? Top 5 unmissable drives in northwest Argentina

1. Ruta 40 from Cachi to Cafayate

This easily takes the #1 spot. What Route 66 is to the USA, Route 40 is to Argentina. Stunning scenery, cool hippy history, biker dudes heading out into the open road. What more could you ask for out of a route?

Cachi is another unmissable spot in the Andean northwest of Argentina. Cachi is located in Salta province and is southwest of Salta city. Below is the church located in the plaza of Cachi:

Estancia Los Cuartos, Tafi de Valle

If you are traveling through the Northwest of Argentina, you shouldn’t miss a stop in Tafi del Valle. Located about 2 hours from Tucuman, it is the place that most people from Tucuman go to escape the heat and city life. After following a curvy mountain road that winds through jungle like forest, you find yourself deposited in an absolutely stunning valley.

Road tripping from Tucuman to the north of Argentina. We got wheels!

The north of Argentina has one of the most beautiful landscapes in all of the country, if not all of South America. You can drive from thick jungle mountains to giant cactus filled deserts one day and on other days find yourself in cloudforests or standing in front of ancient Andean ruins. One of the biggest, if not the best, wine countries lie in this region, in Cafayate. Salta is the major city in this region and it's filled with animated peñas where you can hear the traditional music sung live, and visit beautiful churches decked out in colonial architecture.
